A closer look at the story
Gatto is an animated film about Nero, a scrappy black cat who has spent years making his way through the canal-laced, superstition-soaked streets of Venice and begins to wonder whether he has lived the right lives. Owing a debt to Rocco, a ruthless local cat crime boss, puts him in a bind and pushes him toward an unexpected friendship that might finally show him his purpose, if Venice lets it. Enrico Casarosa directs; Mark Ruffalo voices Nero and Laurence Fishburne voices Rocco, with Casarosa himself voicing Saverio. The animation, comedy, crime and family film is listed with a March 2027 date. The first showings are expected in March 2027, and the runtime is not yet known.
