Toy Story

A closer look at the story

The toys in Andy's room lead a happy life under the leadership of Woody, a cowboy sheriff and their owner's favourite plaything. That order is thrown into turmoil when Andy's birthday brings the gleaming space ranger Buzz Lightyear into the house. Fearing he will be pushed aside, Woody schemes against the newcomer, but when things go wrong and Buzz tumbles out of a window, the other toys blame Woody. Trying to clear his name, Woody ends up stranded with Buzz in the dangerous world beyond the house, and the pair have to set aside their rivalry if they are to get back. Directed by John Lasseter, the 81-minute 1995 animation stars Tom Hanks and Tim Allen as the voices of Woody and Buzz in a warm tale of friendship.
