Minions: The Rise of Gru

A closer look at the story

At just twelve years old, Gru is a long way from becoming a master of evil, but his dreams are already enormous. In the basement of his home, he draws up plans to rule the entire world one day. When the Vicious 6, the supervillain gang he idolises, throw their leader out of the group, Gru sees an opportunity he cannot pass up and sets out to prove he is wicked enough to join them. At his side are his devoted followers, the Minions. But things do not go to plan, and Gru soon finds himself in the villains' sights. While he tries to escape, the Minions set about learning a new martial art so they can rescue him. The adventure will teach Gru that even the very worst villains need their friends. Directed by Kyle Balda, the 87-minute 2022 film features the voices of Steve Carell, Pierre Coffin, Taraji P. Henson and Michelle Yeoh in a family animation.
