The Velveteen Rabbit
The Velveteen Rabbit: A magical friend for Christmas
A closer look at the story
For seven-year-old William, one Christmas marks the start of something unforgettable. Among his presents is a toy that quickly becomes his favourite: a rabbit made of velveteen. To William, this soft rabbit is far more than an ordinary plaything, and the foundations are laid for a friendship that will last a lifetime. With every moment he spends with his new companion, William opens the door to a world he never knew existed, a world of magic and imagination. The film tells warmly of how deep and meaningful the bond between a child and a toy can be. Directed by Jennifer Perrott from a screenplay by Tom Bidwell, this 44-minute 2023 family film stars Phoenix Laroche as William, with Alex Lawther voicing the Velveteen Rabbit.
