Aladdin: A kind-hearted street urchin becomes a prince by magic

KINONOOK / EN

A closer look at the story

Aladdin follows the good-natured street urchin Aladdin and his mischievous monkey Abu through the bustling city of Agrabah. Aladdin meets the spirited Princess Jasmine and the two fall in love, but there is a serious obstacle: the princess may marry only a prince. Aladdin's fortunes change completely when he rubs a magic lamp and releases a wildly energetic, shape-shifting Genie, with whose help he is suddenly transformed into a prince. Others want the lamp too. The power-hungry Grand Vizier Jafar and his irritating parrot Iago are scheming to get their hands on its hidden powers. Now Aladdin has to stand up to them, win Jasmine's heart and prove that what makes a true prince is the heart rather than appearances. Ron Clements and John Musker shared directing duties on this 91-minute animated feature from 1992, co-writing it alongside Terry Rossio and Ted Elliott. Scott Weinger voices Aladdin, Robin Williams voices the Genie and Linda Larkin voices Jasmine, with Jonathan Freeman as Jafar and Gilbert Gottfried as Iago.
