Cruella

A closer look at the story

In 1970s London, shaken by the punk rock revolution, Estella is a clever, creative and slightly rebellious young woman whose greatest dream is to launch a fashion label bearing her own name. Left orphaned and penniless by misfortune, she befriends two young thieves, Jasper and Horace, and the three scrape a living with small-time cons on the city's streets. One day Estella's designs draw the attention of a towering and devastatingly chic designer: the Baroness von Hellman. Going to work for the Baroness will bring Estella face to face with a shattering truth about her own past and lead to the birth of Cruella, burning for revenge. Directed by Craig Gillespie, this 134-minute 2021 origin story stars Emma Stone, Emma Thompson, Joel Fry and Paul Walter Hauser in a colourful crime comedy.
