A closer look at the story
Cheers tells the story of a warm, friendly bar in Boston known for its working-class regulars. The owner and manager is former sports star Sam Malone. What makes the bar special, though, is not just Sam but the quirky, lovable people who work there and settle in at the counter every evening. Characters such as Carla Tortelli, Norm Peterson, Cliff Clavin and Frasier Crane turn the bar's daily life into laughter-filled conversations and unexpected events. Created by James Burrows, Glen Charles and Les Charles and airing on NBC from 1982 for eleven seasons and 269 episodes, this classic sitcom stars Ted Danson as Sam.
