A closer look at the story
Otis is a shy, inexperienced teenager, yet because his mother Jean is a sex therapist he knows far more about relationships and intimacy than most people his age. Maeve, the school's sharp and rebellious outsider, suggests he put that knowledge to use in a secret advice service for their classmates. As the pair listen to other students' problems, they begin to understand both their peers and their own feelings a little better. Laurie Nunn's British series ran on Netflix from 2019, eventually totalling 32 episodes, and stars Asa Butterfield, Gillian Anderson, Ncuti Gatwa and Emma Mackey in a funny, frank drama about youth, identity and intimacy.
