Gilmore Girls

A closer look at the story

Gilmore Girls follows Lorelai Gilmore and her daughter Rory, residents of picturesque Stars Hollow in Connecticut. This mother and daughter share a relationship most people can only dream of: they are very alike and also best friends. Lorelai became pregnant with Rory when she was very young and decided to raise her alone, a choice that sent shockwaves through her wealthy, upper-class family. Having managed for years without anyone's help, Lorelai finds herself at a loss, perhaps for the first time, when Rory is accepted into the prestigious Chilton school, and she has to turn to her parents for help with the fees. While doing everything she can to keep her daughter from repeating the mistakes of her own past, she lives side by side with the town's colourful residents, each with a story of their own. Amy Sherman-Palladino's creation aired from 2000 on The WB and later The CW, totalling seven seasons and 153 episodes; Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel star in this dramedy.
