Desperate Housewives

A closer look at the story

Living in a flawless house on the prettiest street in the suburbs, Mary Alice Young shocks everyone one day by taking her own life. Her story does not end there, though: from somewhere beyond, Mary Alice begins to narrate what happens to the people she left behind: relatives, friends and neighbours. The four close friends we follow through her eyes, Susan Mayer, Lynette Scavo, Bree Van de Kamp and Gabrielle Solis, look from the outside like housewives leading calm, uneventful lives. The truth is very different. Behind the manicured lawns, smiling faces and carefully prepared dinners lie love affairs, betrayals, lies and dark secrets. And Mary Alice's death is only the beginning of those secrets coming to light. Created by Marc Cherry and airing on ABC from 2004 for eight seasons and 177 episodes, this series full of mystery and dark humour stars Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross and Eva Longoria.
