A closer look at the story

In Skyfall, James Bond's most recent mission ends in disaster. In its aftermath the identities of undercover agents across the globe are revealed and the headquarters of MI6 comes under attack. M, who runs the service, finds her own past coming back to haunt her, while Gareth Mallory, the new head of the committee that oversees intelligence and security, openly questions her authority and her position. Caught in the middle of this turmoil, Bond sees his loyalty to M put under severe strain. With only the field agent Eve at his side, 007 has to track down the mind behind the assault and eliminate the threat, however personal the cost turns out to be. Sam Mendes directed this 143-minute action thriller from 2012, a British-American production written by John Logan, Neal Purvis and Robert Wade. Daniel Craig plays James Bond and Judi Dench plays M, with Javier Bardem as Silva, Ralph Fiennes as Gareth Mallory and Naomie Harris as Eve.
