Mission: Impossible
Mission: Impossible: The agent accused of treachery
A closer look at the story
Ethan Hunt is one of the finest operatives of the IMF, a secret intelligence unit. The team, run by Jim Phelps, launches a delicate operation to unmask a mole who has infiltrated the agency, but the mission ends in disaster for reasons no one can explain. In the aftermath, Hunt discovers something shocking: his superiors are convinced that he is the traitor, and they have evidence that points at him. Knowing he is innocent, Hunt has to go on the run and track down the real double agent on his own terms in order to clear his name. Directed by Brian De Palma and written by David Koepp and Robert Towne, the 111-minute 1996 film stars Tom Cruise, Jon Voight, Emmanuelle Béart and Jean Reno in an espionage thriller.
