A closer look at the story

In Spectre, a coded message from James Bond's past leads him first to Mexico City and then on to Rome. There he meets Lucia Sciarra, the alluring widow of an infamous criminal. To find clues that could unravel its network, Bond goes looking for Madeleine Swann, the daughter of his old enemy Mr. White, and quietly asks Moneypenny and Q to help him behind the scenes. Meanwhile M is locked in a battle with political forces determined to shut down the secret service. As Bond strips away layer after layer of deception, he gets closer to the terrible truth behind SPECTRE, and discovers a chilling link between himself and the enemy he is hunting. This 148-minute Bond adventure from 2015 was directed by Sam Mendes, with a screenplay shared by Jez Butterworth, Robert Wade, Neal Purvis and John Logan.
