X-Men: Apocalypse centres on the return of Apocalypse, the very first mutant and the most powerful of them all. Having become immortal and seemingly unbeatable, he wakes from a slumber that has lasted thousands of years, only to be bitterly disappointed by the world he finds. Determined to tear it down and build it again, he assembles a team of formidable mutants, Magneto among them. Their mission is to wipe out humankind and prepare a new order in which Apocalypse will reign. Faced with a plan that threatens extinction on a global scale, a young generation of X-Men has to come together. These young mutants must confront an enemy far stronger than themselves in order to save humanity. Bryan Singer directed this 144-minute science-fiction fantasy from 2016, with a script by Simon Kinberg. James McAvoy plays Charles Xavier, Michael Fassbender is Magneto, Jennifer Lawrence is Mystique and Nicholas Hoult is Beast, while Oscar Isaac takes on the role of Apocalypse.
