A closer look at the story

Lucy is the story of a young woman whose boyfriend drags her into a dark deal, leaving her at the mercy of a drug gang run by the ruthless Mr. Jang. The gang plants a powerful synthetic substance inside her body, intending to use her as a courier. But once the drug begins to seep into her system, something unexpected happens: Lucy starts to develop abilities far beyond those of any human being. The one person who may be able to understand and help her is Professor Norman, a scientist who has devoted years to studying what the human brain might be capable of. With the gang still hunting her, Lucy turns the tables on the people who held her captive and becomes a warrior without mercy, her mind now operating past the reach of human logic. Luc Besson wrote and directed this 89-minute French action science-fiction film from 2014. Scarlett Johansson plays Lucy, Morgan Freeman is Professor Norman and Choi Min-sik is Mr. Jang, with Amr Waked and Julian Rhind-Tutt also in the cast.
