Mad Max: Fury Road

A closer look at the story

In a parched future where civilisation has collapsed and people tear one another apart just to get by, Max has come to believe that the only way to survive is alone. Still haunted by his past, he is pulled against his will into a group led by Furiosa, who are fleeing Immortan Joe, the tyrant who rules the wasteland. Joe sets off after them with his entire army, determined to reclaim what they have taken from him. Directed by George Miller, who wrote it with Nico Lathouris and Brendan McCarthy, the 121-minute 2015 film stars Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron and Nicholas Hoult in an action film built around an almost breathless chase.
