A closer look at the story
The Exorcist: Martyrs revisits the classic horror series under Mike Flanagan's direction, from his own script. New York detective Julie Miller once ended the bloody run of the satanic serial killer Father Sunday and became a hero for it, and she has devoted herself to the job ever since. Now a fresh killer writes her name across a crypt beneath a church using an altar boy's blood, calling her back to the darkness she thought she had buried. Scarlett Johansson stars as Miller, with Chiwetel Ejiofor, Sasha Calle, John Leguizamo and Laurence Fishburne in the cast. The film is due to reach horror fans in March 2027.
