Zombieland

A closer look at the story

Zombieland is a horror comedy set in a world overrun by zombies. Columbus is a nervous college student who has made a habit of fleeing anything that frightens him, and his strict set of Rules has kept him alive so far. He sets off from Texas towards Ohio to find out whether his family is still alive. Along the way he meets Tallahassee, his complete opposite: a hard-edged man who knows no fear, loves his guns, enjoys hunting zombies and has one overriding ambition, to eat one of the last Twinkies left on Earth. The pair cross paths with Wichita and Little Rock, two sisters who stay alive in the chaos by stealing. This odd band starts travelling together, but in a world crawling with the undead, their scariest challenge turns out to be each other. Ruben Fleischer directed this 88-minute comedy horror film from 2009, from a script by the writing pair Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese. Jesse Eisenberg plays Columbus, Woody Harrelson plays Tallahassee, Emma Stone plays Wichita and Abigail Breslin plays Little Rock, with Amber Heard also appearing.
