A closer look at the story

Sherlock Holmes sends the eccentric consulting detective and his courageous companion, Dr. John Watson, into a new and perilous adventure. Holmes is as ready to use his skill in a fight as he is to rely on his formidable intellect, and Watson is the partner who stands by him whatever the risk. This time the pair are up against a fresh adversary, and behind this enemy lies a lethal scheme capable of bringing ruin to the whole of England. Holmes and Watson have to untangle the plot and stop it before it is too late, using brains and brawn alike. Guy Ritchie directed this 129-minute action mystery from 2009, an American-German production written by Anthony Peckham, Michael Robert Johnson and Simon Kinberg. Robert Downey Jr. plays Holmes and Jude Law plays Watson, with Rachel McAdams as Irene Adler, Mark Strong as Lord Henry Blackwood and Eddie Marsan as Inspector Lestrade.
