The Dark Knight Rises
The Dark Knight Rises: Returning to a city that branded him an enemy
A closer look at the story
Eight years have passed since Harvey Dent died. To keep the prosecutor's name clean, Batman took the blame for his crimes and has lived in the shadows ever since as a fugitive wanted by Gotham's police. The city's uneasy calm is shattered by the arrival of the mysterious Selina Kyle and of Bane, a ruthless terrorist leader who quickly leaves the police powerless. To defend the very people who now call him an enemy, the Dark Knight must put the mask back on. With a script by Christopher and Jonathan Nolan and Christopher Nolan directing, the 165-minute 2012 film stars Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Gary Oldman and Joseph Gordon-Levitt in an action thriller.
