Air Force One
Air Force One: The hijacked presidential plane
A closer look at the story
United States President James Marshall is heading home with his wife, his daughter and senior government officials aboard Air Force One, the safest and most heavily protected aircraft in the world. But almost as soon as the plane is airborne, it is seized by the Russian ultranationalist radical Ivan Korshunov and his men. Korshunov's demand is clear: unless a dictator imprisoned in his homeland is released, he will start killing the passengers one at a time. President Marshall faces a near-impossible choice: give in to the terrorists and compromise his country's honour, or gamble with the safety of his own family. Thousands of metres up, in a confined space with nowhere to run, a breathless struggle against the clock begins. Directed by Wolfgang Petersen, this 124-minute 1997 action thriller pits Harrison Ford against Gary Oldman, with Glenn Close also in the cast.
