Orphan: First Kill

A closer look at the story

Leena Klammer manages to escape from the psychiatric facility in Estonia where she has been locked up. Then she hatches a daring plan: to take on the identity of Esther, a wealthy American family's daughter who went missing years earlier. The plan works, and as Esther, Leena is brought to America and becomes part of the Albright family. Believing they have got their lost daughter back, the family at first overlooks everything in the joy of her miraculous return. As time passes, however, Esther's mask begins to slip. Tricia, the mother of the family, stands up to the deadly "child" who has entered her home, as a woman prepared to do anything to protect her family. And so a ruthless struggle between the two begins. Directed by William Brent Bell, this 99-minute 2022 horror thriller sees Isabelle Fuhrman return as Esther, with Julia Stiles and Rossif Sutherland also in the cast.
