The Fox and the Hound

A closer look at the story

Tod, a mischievous and plucky little fox, is taken in by a farm family. While getting used to his new life, he soon meets Copper, a playful and lovable young hound. A firm friendship springs up between them at once; they play, romp around and share adventures full of laughter. For them, nothing in the world matters more than their friendship. But as they grow up, things change. Copper is now expected to become a real hunting dog, in other words to hunt foxes, and the very target he must pursue is his best friend, Tod. The two friends will be tested by the roles that nature and the grown-ups have assigned them. Based on Daniel P. Mannix's novel and directed by Ted Berman, Richard Rich and Art Stevens, this 82-minute 1981 animated classic features the voices of Mickey Rooney and Kurt Russell.
