The New Mutants

A closer look at the story

Set in the X-Men universe, The New Mutants tells the story of five teenagers who found out they were mutants through traumatic experiences. Dani Moonstar, Samuel Guthrie, Rahne Sinclair, Roberto da Costa and Illyana Rasputin are only just getting to know their powers when they are held against their will in a secret facility. On the surface, it is a mutant rehabilitation centre. As time goes by, however, the young people begin to realise that the place is nothing like what they believed. To save themselves, they must find a way to break out of the facility and also confront the sins of their pasts. Directed by Josh Boone, who wrote it with Knate Gwaltney, the 94-minute 2020 film stars Anya Taylor-Joy, Maisie Williams, Charlie Heaton and Blu Hunt in a science-fiction horror.
