Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

A closer look at the story

Every day the wicked Queen asks her magic mirror who is the fairest in the land, expecting always to hear the same answer. One day, however, the mirror tells her that the fairest is now her stepdaughter, Snow White. Mad with jealousy, the Queen orders a huntsman to kill the girl, but he cannot bring himself to do it and lets her escape. Taking refuge in the forest, Snow White finds the little cottage of seven dwarfs with the help of the forest animals and goes to live with them. When the Queen discovers the princess is still alive, though, she puts her own dark plan into motion. Adapted from the Brothers Grimm tale, produced by Walt Disney and directed under David Hand, this 83-minute animation is a landmark fairy tale of the screen.
