Scrubs

A closer look at the story

Scrubs follows John "J.D." Dorian on his journey as a young doctor at Sacred Heart Hospital. This is no ordinary TV hospital, though; in its surreal world, comedy and tragedy always go hand in hand. At Sacred Heart, J.D. learns not only the finer points of medicine but also what friendship and life itself are all about. Among those who share the journey with him are surgeon Chris Turk, his best friend since college, and fellow young doctor Elliot Reid. Running the hospital is Dr. Bob Kelso, who always keeps a close eye on the young doctors. Dr. Perry Cox, who can be hard to put up with at times but worries about the young doctors and tries to help them, and nurse Carla Espinosa also play big parts in J.D.'s life. On top of all that, J.D. has a sworn enemy: the hospital janitor. Created by Bill Lawrence and lasting nine seasons and 181 episodes after debuting in 2001, this comedy series stars Zach Braff as J.D., with Donald Faison, John C. McGinley and Sarah Chalke also in the cast.
