Bohemian Rhapsody: Queen's rise and Freddie Mercury's turbulent years

KINONOOK / EN

A closer look at the story

Bohemian Rhapsody tells the story of the rock band Queen and its iconic frontman, Freddie Mercury. Together with Brian May on guitar, Roger Taylor on drums and John Deacon on bass, the singer forms a group that takes the music world by storm, turning out songs that become classics almost as soon as they are released. Yet as the fame grows, Mercury's ever more unrestrained way of living begins to slip beyond his control. Tensions surface inside the band, and Queen meets its hardest test: finding a way to stay united in the face of success and excess. The film traces the group's rapid ascent, the conflicts within it and Mercury's life-threatening illness, leading up to the eve of the Live Aid concert. Bryan Singer directed this 135-minute music drama from 2018, written by Anthony McCarten. Rami Malek plays Freddie Mercury, with Gwilym Lee as Brian May, Ben Hardy as Roger Taylor, Joseph Mazzello as John Deacon and Lucy Boynton as Mary Austin.
