Forrest Gump
Forrest Gump: A simple man running through history
A closer look at the story
Forrest Gump grows up in Alabama with a low IQ, a kind heart and endless determination. Life carries him, in ways nobody could have predicted, into the middle of some of the most important moments in American history: his running earns him a place at university, he fights in Vietnam, he is welcomed at the White House and he makes a fortune in the shrimp trade. None of these triumphs, though, can fill the gap left by Jenny, the girl he has loved since childhood and has never quite been able to reach. Directed by Robert Zemeckis from Eric Roth's adaptation of Winston Groom's novel, the 142-minute 1994 film stars Tom Hanks, Robin Wright, Gary Sinise and Sally Field in a moving life story.
