Hotel for Dogs

A closer look at the story

Andi, sixteen, and her little brother Bruce live with foster parents who strictly forbid pets. Even so, they have reached the point where they can no longer hide Friday, the adorable dog they have been looking after in secret. One day they stumble upon an old abandoned hotel and discover that a few stray dogs are already living inside. Andi has a brilliant idea: to turn the place into a secret home for their dog. Before long, other homeless dogs from around town begin turning up, and the old building becomes a true refuge for every orphaned canine. The siblings have to think fast to avoid attracting the attention of the police and the authorities. Directed by Thor Freudenthal and adapted from Lois Duncan's novel, this 100-minute 2009 family comedy stars Emma Roberts, Jake T. Austin and Don Cheadle.
