Young Hearts

A closer look at the story

Young Hearts, known in Brazil as Malhação, is a long-running Brazilian series made for a teenage audience. Launched in 1995, its first era took place at Malhação, a made-up gym that gave the show its name, in the Barra da Tijuca district of Rio de Janeiro. Over the years, the show's setting changed from time to time. Although the title remained the same, the story eventually moved to the Múltipla Escolha High School. Characters such as Professor Afrânio, Arthur Malta, nicknamed Cabeção, and Rafael Monteiro, known as Rafa, are well-known characters. Created by Andréa Maltarolli and Emanuel Jacobina and broadcast on TV Globo, the series stayed on screen for 27 seasons, with a cast including Charles Paraventi, Bia Montez, Sérgio Hondjakoff and Ícaro Silva.
