The Parent Trap
The Parent Trap: Twins who trade places
A closer look at the story
Hallie Parker is a cheerful, easygoing girl who lives in California; Annie James is a polite, elegant girl raised in London. Seemingly with nothing in common, the two run into each other by chance at a summer camp. They soon make an incredible discovery: they are identical twins, split up when they were very young because their parents divorced. Having uncovered the secret their families kept from them, the twins hatch a bold plan: they will switch places and try to bring their mother and father back together. Directed by Nancy Meyers and based on Erich Kästner's novel, the 128-minute 1998 film stars Lindsay Lohan, who plays both twins, alongside Dennis Quaid and Natasha Richardson in a family comedy.
