Ted

Ted: A grown man must choose between his living teddy bear and his girlfriend

A closer look at the story

Ted begins with a wish John Bennett made one Christmas night when he was a little boy. John wishes that his teddy bear, his best friend, could come to life and talk to him, and the next morning it happens: Ted is now a living, talking bear. John is never lonely again, but he has overlooked one small detail, which is that everyone grows up. The years go by, and John and Ted spend their whole lives together, still sharing a home. Ted has fully settled into the human world and turned into a creature even more of a womaniser and more foul-mouthed than John, yet somehow still lovable. The only problem is that Ted does not want to share John with anyone, not even his girlfriend, Lori. John, eager to move forward with his own life, feels he has to choose between the bear and the woman he loves. Seth MacFarlane directed this 107-minute fantasy comedy from 2012, co-written with Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild. Mark Wahlberg plays John and Mila Kunis plays Lori, while MacFarlane himself voices Ted. Its crude humour makes it a film for adults.
