Grey's Anatomy

A closer look at the story

At a hospital in Seattle, a group of young doctors starting one of the toughest surgical residency programmes around are trying to save lives while still remembering that only yesterday they were students. As Meredith Grey, Izzie, George, Alex and Cristina cope with exhausting shifts and fierce competition, the demands of their training do not mean the rest of their lives stand still. Complicated relationships, family matters, heartbreak and friendships forged under pressure test them every bit as much as the decisions they make in surgery. Created by Shonda Rhimes, the series has aired on ABC since 2005 and is still running after 23 seasons and 466 episodes; Ellen Pompeo, Chandra Wilson, James Pickens Jr. and Kevin McKidd star in this long-running hospital drama.
