The Good Doctor

A closer look at the story

Diagnosed with autism and savant syndrome, the young surgeon Shaun Murphy leaves a quiet small-town life behind to join the surgical team of a prestigious hospital. Shaun finds it hard to connect with those around him, but he has extraordinary medical gifts. Many of his colleagues, however, doubt that someone who struggles to communicate can be trusted with patients' lives. With every new case, Shaun sets out both to save lives and to break down that scepticism. Created by David Shore, the series began on ABC in 2017 and ended after 7 seasons and 126 episodes; Freddie Highmore, Richard Schiff, Hill Harper and Christina Chang star in this warm hospital drama.
