A closer look at the story
Martial arts champion Son Goku is all grown up now, married to Chi-Chi and the father of a son named Son Gohan. Because Chi-Chi wants their boy to become a scientist, she starts him on his studies at an early age, so Goku at first gets no chance to teach Gohan martial arts. But peaceful family life does not last: as Goku learns about his own past and who he really is, invaders from outer space, each set on destroying everything, arrive on Earth one after another. Goku is forced into ever tougher battles to protect the planet, and Vegeta, Piccolo and Krillin are among the memorable characters of this universe. Launched on Fuji TV in 1989 and completed after 9 seasons and 291 episodes, this action anime features Masako Nozawa as the voice of Goku.
