Peaky Blinders: A gang on the rise in post-war Birmingham

KINONOOK / EN

A closer look at the story

In 1919, just after the First World War, the streets of Birmingham are carved up between rival gangs. One of them is the Shelby family, known as the Peaky Blinders for the razor blades stitched into the peaks of their caps, who make their money from robbery and betting on the horses. At its head is Tommy Shelby, hard and ambitious, determined to lift the family from street gang to something far more powerful. A blunder during a robbery, however, brings a new and relentless inspector to the city with orders to bring them down. Created by Steven Knight and broadcast by the BBC from 2013 over six seasons and 36 episodes, the period crime drama stars Cillian Murphy, Paul Anderson and Helen McCrory.
