The Princess and the Frog

A closer look at the story

Tiana is a hard-working waitress who works day and night towards her dream of opening her own restaurant. One night Prince Naveen of Maldonia, a spoiled, jazz-loving and rather irresponsible royal, arrives on the banks of the Mississippi. His noble status catches the eye of the mysterious Dr. Facilier, a practitioner of dark magic, who turns Naveen into a frog in order to steal his privileges. Trusting the solution in the fairy tales, Naveen asks Tiana for a kiss so he can become human again, but the result is not what anyone expected: Tiana becomes a frog too. The pair set off into the bayou on a strange and funny journey to find the good sorceress Mama Odie, who may be able to break the spell, joined by Ray, a lovestruck firefly, and Louis, a jazz-mad alligator. John Musker and Ron Clements direct this 98-minute 2009 animation, featuring the voices of Anika Noni Rose, Bruno Campos and Keith David, a musical fairy tale.
