Original title: दिलवाले दुल्हनिया ले जायेंगे
A closer look at the story
Chaudhry Baldev Singh has lived in London for years yet holds tightly to tradition, and he intends to honour an old promise by marrying his daughter Simran to the son of a friend in India. Before the wedding he grants her one month of freedom to travel. On that trip she meets Raj, a wealthy, easy-going young man who seems to take nothing seriously. When the two grow close, Raj follows Simran to India, determined not to run off with her but to win her family's blessing. Written and directed by Aditya Chopra, the 190-minute 1995 film stars Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Amrish Puri in a romantic drama full of music, humour and family loyalty.
