A closer look at the story

Camp Crystal Lake is a long-abandoned summer camp where, years ago, a child drowned and mysterious killings followed. An entrepreneur decides to reopen the camp and hires a group of young counsellors to get it ready. The young people set about fixing up the place while finding time to enjoy themselves. But when a violent rainstorm leaves the camp isolated, someone whose identity is unknown begins hunting them down one by one in the dark. The silence of the night gives way to screams. Directed by Sean S. Cunningham and written by Victor Miller, this 95-minute 1980 slasher classic stars Adrienne King, Kevin Bacon and Betsy Palmer.
