Miracle in Cell No. 7

A closer look at the story

In 1983, under martial law in a small Aegean town, Memo is a gentle shepherd with an intellectual disability whose days revolve around his young daughter Ova and her grandmother. When a commander's child dies and Memo is held responsible, that simple life falls apart: sentenced to death, he is sent to a crowded prison ward. The inmates meet him with hostility, but as they come to know him, their view of the man in front of them begins to shift. Directed by Mehmet Ada Öztekin and released in 2019, the Turkish drama stars Aras Bulut İynemli and Nisa Sofiya Aksongur in an emotional story about justice, kindness and the bond between a father and his child.
