A closer look at the story
Perry Mason is a classic legal series about a defence lawyer who has few equals when it comes to criminal cases. Together with his team, Mason takes on the toughest cases of all, with the aim of helping innocent people who have been wrongly accused. Each episode deals with a case that at first seems to offer no way out. Mason patiently uncovers the inconsistencies in the evidence and uses all his skill to expose what really happened before the court. Characters such as Della Street and Paul Drake stand by his side, while Hamilton Burger and Lieutenant Tragg are also familiar faces in his cases. Credited to Erle Stanley Gardner and broadcast on CBS from 1957 for nine seasons and 271 episodes, the series stars Raymond Burr as Perry Mason, with Barbara Hale, William Hopper, William Talman and Ray Collins also in the cast.
