Hope

A closer look at the story

Hope Harbor, an out-of-the-way coastal town in South Korea, is shaken one day by an unexpected threat: a mysterious creature is spreading chaos through the community. The local police chief, Bum-seok, and his officer Sung-ae are given the task of tracking down this strange being and getting to the bottom of what is happening. Meanwhile, in a forest close by, a group of hunters, Sung-ki among them, sets off to catch the monster. Before long, though, the hunters find themselves on the receiving end of the hunt. As events unfold, it becomes clear that nothing is what it seems; appearances deceive. Disaster sown by ignorance grows out of control as conflicts between people fuel it, finally becoming a tragedy on a cosmic scale. Written and directed by Na Hong-jin, this 157-minute 2026 mystery with science-fiction elements stars Hwang Jung-min, Zo In-sung, Hoyeon, Alicia Vikander and Michael Fassbender.
