Monk: The detective whose obsessions solve cases

KINONOOK / EN

A closer look at the story

Adrian Monk was once the star of the San Francisco Police Department, a detective who became a legend for cracking the most baffling cases by unconventional means. Then the tragic murder of his wife, Trudy, turned his life upside down. With the killing still unsolved, Monk developed a severe case of obsessive-compulsive disorder and had to leave the force. These days he advises the police from the outside, a man hampered by his compulsions in everyday life, yet his sharp mind, which misses not even the smallest detail, lets him see what others cannot. Working alongside Leland Stottlemeyer and Randall Disher, Monk reaches the truth in every case by the most unusual routes, though the biggest question he carries is who killed Trudy. Created by Andy Breckman and airing on USA Network from 2002 for eight seasons and 124 episodes, this comedic crime drama stars Tony Shalhoub as Monk.
