Dune (1984): The desert planet where the spice rules

KINONOOK / EN

A closer look at the story

It is the year 10,191, and nothing anywhere is worth more than the spice, which prolongs life, expands consciousness and makes space travel possible. It can be found in only one place: the arid desert planet Arrakis, known to many simply as Dune. As great houses fight for control of the planet, young Paul Atreides arrives on this dangerous world with his family. The Fremen, Arrakis's native people, have long believed that a saviour will come to lead them to freedom. David Lynch wrote and directed this 1984 version of Frank Herbert's novel, which stars Kyle MacLachlan, Francesca Annis and Patrick Stewart in a science-fiction vision known for its distinctive look.
