A closer look at the story

Nick Burkhardt is a homicide detective in Portland who believes his job has hardened him to life's darkest sides. That is, until he starts seeing things that are hard, even almost impossible, to explain. When his ailing aunt Marie comes to visit, Nick learns a startling truth about himself: he is a descendant of an elite line of hunters known as the Grimms, who fight supernatural creatures to protect humankind. With this revelation, Nick's life changes forever, and his duties as a detective increasingly come into conflict with his responsibilities as a Grimm. Featuring characters such as Monroe, Hank and Captain Renard, the series was created by David Greenwalt, Jim Kouf and Stephen Carpenter; it premiered on NBC in 2011 and ran for six seasons and 122 episodes, with David Giuntoli in the lead.
