KINONOOK / EN

A closer look at the story

Spider-Man 2 finds Peter Parker in the grip of a serious identity crisis. Exhausted by the demands of life as Spider-Man, he decides to put his masked alter ego on the shelf. The city pays the price, because a dangerous new enemy, Doc Ock, has emerged and is leaving destruction in his path. Peter's personal life is just as tangled. He still cannot bring himself to act on what he feels for Mary Jane Watson, and he keeps agonising over whether to reveal his true identity to her. His Aunt May is struggling with money problems, adding to the pressure on his shoulders. Meanwhile his closest friend, Harry Osborn, blames Peter for his father's death, and a slow-burning resentment starts to push them apart. Sam Raimi directed this 127-minute action adventure from 2004, written for the screen by Alvin Sargent. Tobey Maguire plays Peter Parker, with Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane, James Franco as Harry, Alfred Molina as Doc Ock and Rosemary Harris as May Parker.
