Transformers: A teenager caught in a robot war that reaches Earth

KINONOOK / EN

A closer look at the story

Transformers tells of a conflict that stretches from Cybertron, a planet of robots able to turn themselves into other machines, all the way to Earth. Each of these robots, known as Transformers, changes shape in its own distinctive way, but they are bitterly divided into two camps: the heroic Autobots on one side and the sinister Decepticons on the other. When Cybertron's reserves of fuel, known as Energon cubes, begin to run dry, both factions take to space in search of new supplies. Their hunt leads them to a world unusually rich in the minerals and chemicals they need: Earth. Young Sam Witwicky is suddenly dragged into this age-old war, because he holds the key to a power beyond imagining, and the Decepticons will do anything to seize it. This 2007 blockbuster, running 144 minutes, was directed by Michael Bay from a script by Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman. Shia LaBeouf plays Sam and Megan Fox plays Mikaela, with Peter Cullen voicing Optimus Prime, Hugo Weaving voicing Megatron and Mark Ryan voicing Bumblebee.
