Sleeping Beauty
Sleeping Beauty: A cursed princess and three good fairies
A closer look at the story
While Princess Aurora is still a baby, the wicked fairy Maleficent places a terrible curse on her: the princess is doomed to die. To protect her from that fate, three good fairies take Aurora away from the palace and raise her in secret far away. But as she grows, Maleficent grows ever more set on making sure the curse comes true. Meanwhile Aurora's path crosses with the handsome Prince Phillip, and her story builds towards a great showdown between good and evil. Adapted from Charles Perrault's tale and made under the direction of Clyde Geronimi, the 75-minute 1959 animated film, voiced by Mary Costa, Bill Shirley and Eleanor Audley, is a classic Disney fairy tale.
