Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

A closer look at the story

Spending another miserable summer with his relatives, Harry Potter accidentally casts a spell on the unpleasant Aunt Marge, runs away from the house and is surprised to escape punishment for breaking the ban on underage magic. Soon, though, he hears the news that has shaken the wizarding world: Sirius Black, said to be a dangerous criminal, has broken out of Azkaban, the prison no one is supposed to leave, and is thought to be on his way to Hogwarts. With the Dementors, the prison's chilling guards, now circling the school, Harry's third year is tenser than ever. Directed by Alfonso Cuarón with a screenplay by Steve Kloves, the 141-minute 2004 film features Robbie Coltrane as Hagrid and Michael Gambon as Dumbledore alongside the young leads in a fantasy adventure.
