Mortal Kombat: A fight for the fate of the universe
A closer look at the story
Past his prime as an MMA fighter, Cole Young lives an ordinary life with no idea of where he really comes from. Everything changes the day he is attacked by Sub-Zero, the finest warrior of Outworld's Emperor Shang Tsung. Setting out to discover why he has been targeted, Cole meets some of Earth's greatest fighters, among them Sonya Blade, Jax and Liu Kang, and begins training alongside them. Ahead lies a life-or-death battle against Outworld's warriors that will decide the fate of the universe. Directed by Simon McQuoid and written by Greg Russo and David Callaham, the 110-minute 2021 film stars Lewis Tan, Jessica McNamee, Mehcad Brooks and Josh Lawson in a martial-arts fantasy.
